Reviews of the Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx

Real Reviews Submitted by Real Users!

1. I had the Garmin eTrex which previously worked rather nicely here in the Colorado foothills and even mountains though frequently failed me inside thick woods as well as in many of the ravines and gullies. Eventually this started to give me a difficult time locating satellites on the top of the hills and this basically meant it was the perfect time to upgrade.

This unit has not got the barometric altimeter or even the compass like the 60Csx however in my opinion, you no longer need these. Satellite locking is actually extremely fast and incredibly good. This even locks onto satellites while I am inside my home!!! (No lie, I could not believe it and furthermore I really don't stay in a tent which has a thin top either) The big color display screen is easy to read; the actual functions are abundant and also appear to be user-friendly. It does all the things I want it to plus it does it very well. The SD cards are super easy to change plus it includes a USB cable allowing you to connect to any computer. We've got an Apple and Garmin offers all the required Apple software on their website which means you needn't be an orphan should you be into Mac's. It connected immediately and also downloaded and installed all of the software without difficulty.

I'm so pleased with this 60Cx and would certainly recommend it to anyone who intends to spend time in the country where satellite pick-up can be very finicky.

2. I purchased a 60Cx to replace my Garmin eTrex Legend, that's really sluggish to find satellites and is particularly lousy while in the woods. Thus far the 60CX is definitely well worth the cost. Quick acquisition of satellites - even inside the home. Easy to understand instruction/directions plus the buttons are a lot easier compared to the joystick on the Legend. I am going to point out basic map which comes as standard on the 60Cx is actually inadequate however I was able to download my own Mapsource topo's from the Legend. Also comes along with its very own memory card.

I'll be putting the 60Cx to the test this weekend once I go out on a late season deer hunt in seriously heavy cover. To date, thumbs up on this one, and for the cost.....definitely seems to be a bargain.

3. My partner and I reside in North Idaho. I purchased the Garmin 60CX on September 16 and it showed up on September 18. The procedure to purchase online was simple. Their website is simple to navigate, along with excellent product descriptions. Excellent company to do business with. I'm very happy!

When it comes to the Garmin 60CX, following a considerable time researching GPS products and also the specifics of each and every product, Garmin 60CX turned out to be the device to get. I spoke with a number of hunters and the amount of praise these people gave the 60CX persuaded me, that with all of its features, it stood out above each of the others. It'll be a fantastic investment for you.

4. I had to upgrade to the 60Cx from the 60CS mainly because of the bigger map file sizes discovered immediately after upgrading to the completely new City Navigator North America edition 8 software. Besides needing to purchase a brand new unit, the 60Cx has a really poor alert tone volume. I depend on the actual tones in order to alert me for an approaching route change, however the volume of the actual tones is really so low, that when you have the stereo system on, or perhaps happen to be speaking on a mobile phone, you may not hear the tone. One would expect Garmin could certainly fit a quality speaker within the device and offer a way to increase or reduce the volume level. Amazingly the volume of the 60CS was in fact louder than the 60Cx, even though also far too poor.
