1. Bought this device for my kayak. Used the regular transducer that came with the unit. It is supposed to take readings through the hull. I proceeded to get it mounted. Purchased a RAM MOUNT for it. Ran the wires. Took it to the lake to test it out.

It was reading water under the hull precisely immediately upon turning it on. 4 inches beneath me. Yup. Just about perfect. Brought it out to where I had gotten muddled a few instances when fishing for trout.

Showed me a sunken vessel. I proceeded to the next snag area…no vessel, but …a tree that had fallen to the bottom there, standing almost straight up. The lake contains two sections with a narrows adjoining them. I set the device to “BIRDS EYE VIEW” and it displayed my track and revealed to me both sections of the lake (which are not visible to the eyes only).

I adore it. Crisp. Simple to operate. Cost effective for what you get.

2. I believed that a GPS – Fishfinder combination would cost over $300, until I came across this device. I purchased it, and found the installation instructions to be thorough, installation was easy, and the device is far more capable than I imagined based on the cost. I am a new to boating, so I do not have a lot of experience with these types of devices, so maybe I am easy to impress. The map is fairly pixilated at high zoom, and it does not contain a navaid database, yet you may keep something like 2000 waypoints on your own. It has many functions for everything from sensitivity to display brightness. I am very pleased with this device.

3. What a great combo for fishing. You know where you are heading, where you have gone, where the fish are located, how large they are, and you can chart a new course – this device does everything they say it does, and it is very practical. I am able to dismount it and take it home. The cost is an excellent bargain. The only thing it will not do is catch fish.

4. I bought the Humminbird 161 Combo 4-inch Waterproof Marine GPS and Chartplotter for my dad as a Birthday present. I wanted to have fun with this with him since I was going on holiday to visit. The present came the day after I arrived which was wonderful...installed the following day and set off for 5 days of fishing. Thank-you Digital Oasis for making a cost effective product…Humminbird 161 Combo 4-Inch Waterproof Marine GPS and Chartplotter is a superb and long-lasting device.

5. I owned a 12-year-old device and I began to experience issues with it. I checked into repairing it and decided to replace the unit instead.

Happy I did since this device does everything I want and then some. It was simple to change and program. This is one marvelous device!
