I am very happy with it, but even so a friend has an SG5 and it is excellent too. The only small aspects I would like to see bettered (in the future) would be that you have to have to navigate through numerous screens to get from scoring to viewing the course and back (they should have included a function to go back and forth instantly), and the scoring setup that Garmin/GolfLogix has or smartphones is far superior. The smart phone edition lets you store stats (fairways hit, greens hit, putts, penalties, sand and more), and I would like to see this included on the Approach.

The courses were simple to locate and download. The device was precise and simple to use. I do not have to wonder how far it is to reach the creek that crosses that fairway or how far I hit a certain club, or the number of putts I had during the game. It makes the experience of playing close to your home course or a new course an awesome, even if you are not doing as well as you like in your game.

By the way a pony tail holder works like a charm!

It's been amount three months since I grabbed the Timex Ironman Global Trainer GPS and it's FANTASTIC! Right now I'm enjoying a little vacation time and using it while swimming everyday. It tracks my mileage, has a huge amount of battery life, and even a web based map function. Out of all the ones I own (Pathfinder, Citizens, Ulysse Nardins, etc.) it's my favorite choice. Best of all the local fishermen are amazed on any island I want to swim.

While I have yet to figure out exactly how to work the road calculation functions, but other than that it's flawless. The FIT map format hasn't been an issue for me at all, especially since I can export GPX, TCX and KML formats.

While still in the parking lot I turned my new Edge 500 on in my car and within just 10 seconds it had locked onto a signal.  I was still accustomed to waiting about a minute or two with my 305 which sometimes wouldn't even lock on even though I was parked at the curb!

Pros:  Lightweight, precise, compact, simple to use, displays two positions simultaneously including both longitude and latitude, UTM, GMRS, and if in the GPX format data can be saved.

Cons:  Low resolution, limited usability of the strap.

Notes:  This does not offer mapping and turn-by-turn functions however it is not meant to.  It does display tracks, straight-line distance and bearing which are all basic GPSr functions.

Although I do own both a Magellan Meridian Gold as well as a Garmin Etrex Legend HCx and I have put both to plenty of use, I have also used the Foretrex 301.
