Create a website and Grow Your Business
To create a website can be quite a challenge, but it's worth the effort. If you're looking to put up a site for your business, it can help you get more customers through the door. There are some things, however, that you'll need to consider when you want to make your website. Here are some things you'll want to think about:
1. Ask yourself - what you want your site to do for you? Write down your objectives, and then beside that list, write down the site functions you'll need to meet those objectives. Is the site simply to give information about you and your business, so you can tell casual inquiries, "just look at my site"? Do you intend to do online transactions? Then you'll want to look into merchant account providers.
2. Avoid information overload. Some Internet newbies think that they should put as much information as they can into one page, so the clients will see everything they should know about the company. Remember that most Net users have a short attention span. A solid block of text, or long paragraphs that require the user to scroll down to read, will virtually guarantee that your information won't be read. The goal of your page is to give just enough information at a time to interest the potential client,so that the deeper the client goes into your site, the more he will want to know more and more about your business.
With this goal in mind, keep your pages divided into categories when you create a website. Put only the information that your clients need to know - your services, maybe a testimonial or two, and contact information. Organize your information into pages, and make separate sections for each. This will keep each page clean, and contain only the information pertinent to your clients' needs.
3.Readability is the key. As much as you'd like to use loud colors or huge fonts, the Internet is not a shouting competition. Being loud, visually, only annoys many users, and gives them a bad first impression when they enter your site. Keep your site's color palette limited, and use colors that are easy to read text on. You want your user to keep on reading, so you want to make his experience as comfortable as possible.
4.Update as often as you can. This is especially important is your business is in an industry where there are always new items and techniques. So if you want to create a website that you intend to update often, you may want to look into content management systems. If you want to make a site that will just have your basic company info and contact details, then a simple, static website will suffice.
If you want to create a website for your business, here are a few tips: be clear on what you want your site to do. This is help you determine the functions and content for your site. Then organize that content into links and don't put too much information in one page- too much information all at once can cause users to tune out and just move on to another site.
